Cottage History
The cottage is believed to date back to early last century and was the croft house for the land. Originally owned by the Campbell family, as the children grew up, they left the family home and set up homes of their own. The unusual Nissan building near the end of the drive was built by one of the sons, Euan Campbell, a local taxi owner in the 1960’s. Euan was something of a trail blazer and was one of the first islanders to have an electricity supply in their home powered by a small generator behind the hut. The Nissan hut was sadly reduced to a ruin following an undiscovered water leak in the 1980s or 90s.
Airidh an Dobhrain has been in the ownership of various members of the family until relatively recently when it was bought and used as a holiday let cottage since the early 2000’s. The current owner bought it in 2017 and did major renovation work during 2018 and 2019 including knocking through for extra windows and fitting new kitchen and bathroom.
